RE: MISREPRESENTATION OF COMMENTS MADE BY Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye

Our attention has been drawn to a viral video currently circulating across various social media platforms and blogs, purporting to present comments made by the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, concerning the issue of insecurity in Nigeria and the efforts of the President.

We wish to state unequivocally that the clip being circulated is a short excerpt taken from a much longer message of approximately thirty minutes. Unfortunately, the selective editing and deliberate isolation of a few seconds from the complete message have distorted the intended meaning and created an entirely misleading narrative.

This growing trend of taking statements out of context to generate controversy, drive online engagement, and attract traffic is both unethical and irresponsible. Journalism and media practice demand fairness, accuracy, and context. Removing the surrounding explanations and presenting isolated remarks as complete positions is a disservice to the public and undermines the integrity of responsible communication.

Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s message, when viewed in its entirety, presents a balanced, thoughtful, and spiritually grounded perspective. Any interpretation based solely on the circulating clip does not accurately represent the substance or intent of his remarks.

We therefore call on bloggers, content creators, media platforms, and all individuals engaged in information dissemination to exercise greater responsibility in the discharge of this important duty. Sensational headlines and deliberately edited clips may generate temporary attention, but they erode public trust, fuel unnecessary division, and misinform audiences.

We also encourage members of the public to seek the complete message before forming opinions or sharing conclusions. In an age where misinformation spreads rapidly, every stakeholder has a responsibility to promote truth, fairness, and accuracy.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God remains committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, promoting peace, praying for those in authority, and contributing positively to national development through biblical truth and responsible public engagement.

We respectfully urge all media practitioners and digital publishers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism by presenting news and public statements in their proper context, rather than sacrificing truth on the altar of sensationalism.
